Computer in domain
3 Answers
What does 'computer in domain' mean ? I have just received a notice, apparently from AVG, saying that my computer's settings have been altered and it is now 'computer in domain'. I only have the one computer and I wonder whether this setting means that other computers are presumed to be linked to it and whether this means my computer security is compromised.
If so, how do I reset the setting ?

If your computer is connected to the internet via a router it's not too bad to just leave it as it is because the router will be dealing with the external firewalling for you. if you are connected using a direct modem then you should change the firewall profile to stand alone computer.
to change the profile Open AVG User Interface -> Click Firewall icon -> select required profile from drop down menu and press "Save changes
The options should be
Standalone computer - directly connected to the Internet
Use if you have a direct modem connection with no router
Computer in domain - connected to company network
Use if computer is on a company network (though not a big problem to use at home if you have a router for your internet connection)
Small home or office network
As name says, use when connected to small home network, generally the one yu should use for home (again as long as you have a router)
Ideally if you select small home or office network you should set the local network to be a trusted one, but if you only have one computer this is not needed.
