You should approach the companies direct to ask them what they require.
Companies such as Google are so popular they get hundreds of applicants for every vacancy. So to stand a chance you need to study very hard and get the top grades. Studying computer science would be useful but again to stand a chance you need to be top of the class.
^ Good link mazie, and as I thought Google get over 400 applicants for every vacancy.
Wouldn't an engineering student be looking for a job in hardware rather than software?
A masters and/or a PhD would be helpful.
Not necessarily, Zack. My son studied engineering at university and is nowva software engineer.
Also as Google are based in California , you need to have the right to live and work in the USA.
Ah, OK.
They have offices in Ireland and London. If you read the article, qualifications are 4th on the head of HR's list. Well worth a read.
Yes they have offices all around the world, but the headquarters where all the really interesting stuff is , is in the USA .
It definitely helps to have the right to work in the USA.
You could try for a job in a local office and hope to become so good they transfer you to the USA , but the fact still remains that they get 400+ applications for every job.
snigger.
Google has huge headquarters in London, too, Eddie
