i still have part one recorded, i'm glad i didn't watch it until the second part was broadcast ... which could be any time never

It's really annoying. I watched the first part but have forgotten what it was all about now. Didn't think to record it as the final part should have been the following week.

It was explained on Points of View at the time. The 2 episodes are completely separate stories and were never scheduled for transmission in consecutive weeks. The second one is to be transmitted sometime in the winter schedules.
