I have some chicken breasts, in date (6 Aug), when I opened them there was a slight smell, Would they still be okay to cook and eat?

I'm a bit funny about raw meat, I think you know they don't look quite right , bin .

Bin Them !
Me personally, no. I would bin them as the smell would play on my mind and I would not be able to eat them.
Have you kept them chilled the whole time? To be honest I would judge by the smell
Deffo bin them !
Has the smell dispersed now you have taken them from the wrapping?

If they don't smell after a while and don't feel slimy I'd cook them.

Yes they were kept refrigerate,

no the smell lingered a bit, I thought they looked a bit grey as well, I cook chicken breasts all the time, whilst they are not slimy they are grey and a bit manky looking.

I think I will bin them
By the sounds of it, that's a good idea.

Dare I suggest that the next time you buy chicken breasts, pop 'em in the freezer?

(have now gone off my idea of cooking chicken chasseur tomorrow :-) )
Poor hygiene, improper food storage and under cooking are the causes of upset stomachs.
I'd bin them. Like Sharon the smell would be in my head and I wouldn't be able to eat them.
Keep them, well wrapped, in the fridge and take them back to the shop tomorrow. I would.
Where did you buy them and when?
No, I'm quite lax with dates on food. It's usually ok if it smells ok, but chicken is one of the things I'd bin if it smelt a bit off. Prawns, also.
Defo bin them. You wouldn't enjoy eating them anyway when you have doubts.
Thanks purist :-)
