I'm told that a singer/pianist, possibly Paul Anka or Neil Sedaka, added lyrics to a classical piece, and it was truly awful. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
That's the one! I hate to admit it actually but I did go to see the "Classicly Sedaka" concert when he came to Brighton ages ago but, as I say, it was actually quite good apart from his rather high pitched voice ;o)
I don't think he's too bad, but the person who was trying to remember who it was just didn't like the thought of lyrics to classical music I think. Having found the CD on Amazon, I notice that on the cover he looks a bit like Des O'Connor!
Thanks again for your help.
...Although lots of pop songs have used classical music as their inspiration sometimes quite sucessfully. 'A Whiter Shade of Pale', 'All By Myself', 'Lady Linda', 'Joybringer(?)' etc...
