Does anyone think it's a teeny weeny bit convenient that Thatcher has been gagged just in time for the Tory conference?

It would be an elaborate piece of trickery to gag someone like Baroness Thatcher - talking is her life-blood, remover that, and what elkse would she do? Talk to her husband? Interact with her children? Can't really see that. It's actually an inconvenience for the Tories - IDS as he's laughingly called has the charisma of a burger wrapper - it's only the threat of the batty old dear appearing each year that provides any frisson of excitement at the Tory Conference! How are they going to get anyone to listen to them now? Over to you ... er ...I ...!
Using the word "dear" in connection with The Maggon is stretching the english language beyond its design tolerances. The only thing I can think of that would have been convenient would have been her arteries letting go 30 years ago before she did so much damage. Mind you I want her around for a few years yet, for two reasons...1) to keep the tories out of power...2) I need time to learn to tap-dance before they bury her.
Incitatus, I like your ref. to learning to tap dancing in time for the funeral. It reminds me of a latin verse written on the death of a tyrant (can't remember the writer or the tyrant - can anybody else identify?). It goes "nunc est bibendum, nunc pede libero pulsanda tellus" - now it is time to drink, now it is time to beat the earth with a loose foot (=dance). So you are not the first to have these feelings - and I share them entirely!
