Should I buy my Christmas card stamps soon ? I mean, the peel-off second-class ones which come in booklets without price printed on, so they will still be valid after the price goes up. Or will they ?

Once asked at the Post Office about whether the book of stamps I had were still valid and would I need to add extra stamps to bring the price up?
The answer was 'No'

Mikey, there was a Q asked on here some years back about buying stamps at a reasonable price, I was surprised at how many different places there are !
(Mostly internet)
Gulliver....its only months away !
Mikey, what's your response to fiction-factory's post at 09:09?
Naomi...I feel nothing but shame at the actions of the Labour Party. I would have expected it of the Tories, but not Labour.
Mikey, you seem blissfully unaware of a lot of things Labour have done - and, given the opportunity, plan to do. One could be forgiven for thinking you don't really understand what you're supporting.
Naomi....The Tories hived off :::

Electricity
Gas
Telephones

They even hived off water, and years after they did that, I still no choice where to buy my water from.
Mikey, strange that you know so much about the Tories and so little about Labour. Have you ever wondered why?
Naomi...this has all the hallmarks of becoming a circular debate. You know my views on privatisation, so I'm not sure I can, or want to add anything further.
That doesn't surprise me, Mikey.
mikey4444... i've had several lots of 100 stamps from this seller...ver reliable...they come recorded delivery the next day.

Obviously they are not really supposed to be used again (as it states in the description) but .............and they still have their stickiness too...they come on a sheet so you can easily peel them off.
Makes one wonder if the stamps being sold on ebay are fakes.

Hans.
The ones i bought were not fakes ... they are cheap because they have already been through the mail system but didn't get franked. Obviously we aren't supposed to use them again but...............
I'm with gulliver !
@roslyn......Your ebay link is to a seller who is advertising sheets of 100 stamps and it states on the advert....More than 10 available 1,260 sold.

I therefore put a question to you.........From where would so many thousands of unfranked stamps have been obtained for re-gumming and mounting onto sheets of 100 ea. ?

Hans.
Hans, nice to see you x

I'll need to go and find the link which said that the post office do sell real stamps to companies/businesses, even individuals, well below market value.
(I may be some time !)
Elsewhere I read that some sellers of these stamps on ebay on closer inspection were also buyers of bulk mixed bags of used stamps.

The theory then becomes, they buy for pennies and then the stamps are sorted then soaked in a solution and mounted on sheets.

How true that is I don't know.
Roslyn's seller has the perfect cop out...

//These Stamps Are Sold For Collectors/ Philatelic Purposes

Please note that Royal Mail advises that stamps for which the service has already been provided should not be used as postage.//
this isn't the link I was thinking of, but the only one I could find

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1565922-2.html

from 2013
oh, botheration, NOT that !
sorry and sincere apologies.
Hi Alba......I guess you have been doing what I have, without any success. Trying to establish a link which confirms that the Royal Mail does, or at one time did, sell stamps in bulk at discounted prices. I feel sure the company did.

Anyway, whilst trawling the Net, I came across the following which is interesting, but I can;t find out if the Royal Mail ever took any action against Angus McDonagh :-

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2478877/Man-sends-letters-using-DIY-stamps-Royal-Mail-failed-notice.html

Mamyalynne picked up an interesting cop-out in the Ebay sellers advert..... / The stamps are Sold For Collectors/ Philatelic Purposes./

Makes one think what Philatelist would want to buy a hundred identical stamps, unless he/she has a retail outlet for them.

Hans.
