Birth Stories....
55 Answers
This post is triggered by Sunny Dave calling in on his daily cycle ride and still twittering on about numbers....this led him to when I was born....which day of the week.....
All I know is.....as told to me by my mother who was probably trying to ignore her pregnancy and my birth....
She was serving, as a waitress, for a Burns Night Supper and went into labour......the ambulance came and took her to hospital where I was born on May 29th......
Bloody slow ambulance.....was Dave's reply......
Dave is now sitting on the patio...chuntering away about numbers and how many bank holidays I've had a birthday on.....
This could last longer than my mother's labour...... :-(
Your birth story?........x

They were planning to induce me the next morning but during visiting I started to have a few twinges and the nurse prodded me. As I hadn't slept well the night before she gave me a couple of sleeping pills and I asked her what time they would be starting the inducement. Oh, was the cheery reply, you're well on the way, you'll have had it before then. Then why have you just given me sleeping tablets? Oh, ***, was her reply. An interesting night was had by all.
Mum started in labour with me early on a Saturday morning. Dad went to the phone box and the midwife duly arrived and he went out to do some gardening (as you did). At that point Mum's contractions stopped and the midwife suggested a nice cup of tea. This did the trick and contractions restarted - Mum was very clear about the bit where the midwife said, 'Scream your head off, do anything, just don't push!' Turned out I had the cord round my neck. I arrived at 11.30, 20th August - just in time for my fish & chips, as Dad said when summoned from garden. :)
I hospitalised my mother as I gave her high BP. She was in for a fortnight.
The decision was made to start her off (I wasn't due until August) so they gave her a sweep around midnight on the 19th...I didn't put in an appearance until lunchtime on the 20th. I apparently was in no hurry to come along...I was also very nosey as came out face up. What can I say take after my dad hehe.
