injections of different chemicals necessary?

This is not a post for people to remark whether executions are right are wrong, its just that I watched a botched up execution a few nights ago, and it was stopped midway as the 2nd injection didn't work, as the victim was in agony, so they took him off the bed/table.

So the Q is, why cant they use the same system that the Dignitas in Switzerland use, or that of the vets way, of putting a large animal to sleep?

I've often wondered this. You can quickly and painlessly euthanise an animal, so why not a human.

why not make their own versions of the same drug with a slight tweak as to not infringe copyright.

They could do that, fender, or just stop pretending that it's all clean and sciency and use a firing squad or a stout rope instead.

I have vague memories of one or more drug companies refusing to supply prisons with any more of their drugs.

If we are talking USA, yes they could set up a Drug manufacturing plant and make their own but they'd still have to satisfy the FDA.

Both Dignitas and the USA death cocktails are the same, the difference being, that the drug firms refuse to supply the prisons.
Sodium Pentothal to knock them out in seconds and Pavulan to paralysis their breathing.

It's a mystery why they persist with all manner of terrible methods of execution I can only echo TGM himself when he said "Americans can always be relied on to do the right thing - after all other options are exhausted". The best method, is, as usual, defined by the British: The rope+drop, eventually the US will come to use it.

It wont let me share it, but have given the painstaking reconstruction of what happened real-time execution by lethal injection that highlights some of the very specific issues relating to the USA’s preferred execution method.

99% of the time...Pentothal and Pavulan given together will kill you.
In the states, they used another drug because of inability in obtaining the above two and gave the wrong dose........it didn't work.
