Suffolk county has decided to rename "cat's eyes" road studs because people think they are real animal parts. They've been called this for over eighty years, do we really need to call them something because a few people are confused, what's next to be renamed , hot dogs, bullseye, shepherds pie?

yeah - cousin -german - will we have to shoot them or what?
and creme anglaise - that had never been near an English lady
and French letter - you know I have never had one from gay Paree and Dutch cap - passing on....
and dog-leg - " twisty twee bit on the road coming up" seems a bit of a mouthful
as some american baptists say - this is the passing time or
the end of the world
Damn, got this one wrong ... thought it was a TWR post.
Maybe our European cousins are not as bright as we like to think they are. The garden opposite our building site flies a German flag (Lots of little Germlanders in Germany) So I jokingly said to a couple of German workers that I was going to paint each fence panel with the English flag 'white with red cross'
They were puzzled. So I put up some images of flags and asked them to point out the English flag.
I do worry for impressionable American tourists in rural pubs when someone calls out "It's getting parky in here, chuck another faggot on the fire ..."
Whilst I can see the confusion on one hand, what bothers me more is the inference in the article that UK drivers may not know what a 'Road Stud' is - surely not true?
Can't have Dog Legs in the road either.
Reminds me of the gag about the council being prosecuted one winter by the RSPCA, for throwing grit in the cat's eyes.
We Suffolk people have no problems with signs about "cats' eyes".
However we have to comply with laws requiring us to make 'reasonable provision' for those with disabilities.
Since we have the misfortune to share a border with a county where all of the locals are mentally subnormal due to many centuries of inbreeding (i.e. Norfolk), we've found it necessary to change our road signs in order to accommodate the needs of those illegal immigrants who get past our border patrols.
