Diana....20 Years On.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Diana's untimely death.

At the time, I was really puzzled by the huge outpouring of grief here in Britain. But now, all these years later, I now realise how important she was in so many peoples lives.

Not sure what else to say, but I just wanted to mark this day.

My view for what it's worth is that everyone deals with things their own way - what irks me most is people ripping the backs out of other people when they don't conform to their own ways.

Making someone else sound like a gibbering imbecile does not make you the better or bigger person.

Sandy....does it matter ?

She was deprived of the HRH title, when she and Charles divorced, but she remained just as important to millions of people despite that.

Lets not turn this debate into a rant against Blair, or any other politician.

One aspect of the whole thing which appalled me was the bile against the Queen for not returning to London to lead the hand-wringing fest. She did what any grandmother would do under the circumstances, she took a few days off to support them, the public had the gutter press to lead and encourage their 'grief'.

HM had no need to return to London and the assembled masses venting their spleen against her were out of order. She did what she and her advisors thought best. It's a shame that didn't comply with the wishes of those in tears at the gates of Kensington Palace. It's a tough old life sometimes.
