Back On Line At Last! Why Do The Powers-That-Be Think It's A Good Idea For Everything To Be Online?
25 Answers
Seriously - my bank urges me to go online, everyone urges me to go online for everything. This means that I bear the printing ink and paper costs of statements etc.. (I won't so things get chaotic). Yet, for some reason, I've been told that I am offline for HOURS now and I have been completely incommunicado. This system is too easy to knockout and cause chaos. Online is OK, but we really need to keep the old systems functioning i.m.o. Anyone agree?

Jourdaine complain long and hard to BT, who supply the phone line, and whoever your broadband suppliers is. Keep a log of when you are down. If you even told them what you are telling us they would have to provide help. Just accepting it will not cure it. You are paying good money for a terrible supply and service and have consumer rights to boot.

Yes it is wireless, but, as I mentioned, we've no mobile signal at the house - have to walk up the hill a bit for that. People up the hill get Superfast broadband too. It's a pretty new computer (18 mths) and I've had this problem all the time I've lived here - 2 1/2 years. (It used to go off in France when it rained, but I knew that when the rain stopped I'd get my connection back.) I get fed-up of being importuned to do everything on line and I haven't a clue about 'settings'. Microsoft sending messages about doing something to keep my apps on another device - I don't have another device or know what an app.is. The router just sits blinking in the corner, sometimes red.
I just want to be left alone to do things the old-fashioned way that I'm comfortable with and which I find much easier really. Never mind, I got frustrated. I'll live. :)
