Before I contact the AB Editor to ask why I can't use this AB Mobile site as I used to - it's too unstable and difficult to navigate -- or even leave AB land forever -- is there anyone out there in AB land who uses a screen reader? Ta Muchly and Many Apologies if I haven't left any feedback to those good ABers who have answered my questions - it's taken me ages to write this (no jokes please) and I just hope it all gets through.

Is there a particular problem, woodelf? Can you describe what is happening?
I have the same problem using the mobile site. There's too much going on with this site. Too many adverts etc.

Lol, i was half way through answering when AB disappeared again.
This site is dreadful
Keep hearing about these 'adverts'.. I never see any adverts .. of any kind !
I used to have loads of trouble accessing AB to the point where I gave up for quite a while.
Once I installed the 'Brave' browser, all the access issues disappeared! It's free, give it a try.
For freezing your screen, disappearing, etc, etc.
Doesn't happen anywhere else.
Time you got aaan IT team in. Or one that works.
Hi Woodelf, I doubt anyone thinks badly if you don't respond quickly or even at all given the difficulties with using such equipment to access AB. I have zero knowledge of screen readers but hopefully someone else has.

I urge you to contact the Ed in case there is something the team can do to help out and if you do have to leave us or use the site even less I shall keep in touch.

A message from Woodelf - started as a reply on AB, but eventually sent via email to me as AB just wouldn't behave for long enough :

"Very Many Thanks to you Dave for that and you can guess that I've managed to get this far, but it's taken me about five or six tries to do so and I had to keep going out and back in to AB Mobile and even had to shut down completely and then restart my pc.

In AB Mobile my speech system goes completely for literally minutes at a time and - there, it's just gone now as I was writing that bit - and now it's back after three to eight minutes of complete silence and sometimes I can use the speech for other facilities even while there is no speech in AB Mobile.

This AB Mobile has been the worse it has ever been and though there are no adverts as such, I keep getting such things as switch advert frame and advert frame updated and the whole screen/site goes haywire and the speech goes too.

I don't know what the future will bring, but I'd like to say a Great Big Thanks to Mamya , Pixie, Melv and the other ABers who answered this question, I did try to answer using the on screen edit fields, but I just couldn't get any sense/speech/text editing out of my reader and was closed down yet again.

I am asking sunny dave to pass on this to himself and you, so as you know how much I appreciate your kind words and how I agree with those other words of frustration about AB Mobile."
Just a quicky. What is A/B mobile ?
I was wondering that, wr, as there is no longer a mobile version. Has this been just since the change of site?
I knew that there would be problems with this site I did my usual moan but did anyone listen no way Pedro
Must be so frustrating for Woodelf, do hope someone with knowledge of how screen readers work in conjunction with the site can be found.
I've flagged this thread up to the Editor by posting a linking thread in Editors Blog - I hope they can help.

For Ron:

The Answerbank used to have two different versions, with one being designed for desktop computers ( URL = http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk ) and the other being designed for mobile devices, such as phones (URL = http://m.theanswerbank.co.uk ). The latter used a simpler layout in order to be easily read on a smaller screen. As such it was also extremely useful to people with visual handicaps, such as Woodelf, who use screen readers to listen to AB's content.

When the 'new' AB was launched though it was designed as a 'responsive' site, which automatically adjusts to the size of the screen on which it's being viewed. Since then, anyone using a desktop to view the site will receive the 'full' pages, even if they're using the old 'mobile' link above.

That's what's happening for Woodelf. He's trying access the mobile version on a desktop, as he used to be able to do, but no such specific version exists any more. So he now gets the whole page content, which his screen reader simply can't cope with.
