To answer the question that one or two have said is unanswered, the hijab sexualises young girls because it’s a visible indication of maturity. Where the female is concerned Islam is all about sex. However, in this instance I suspect that most of the parents who insist their children wear it regard it as a political symbol of Islam - along with the niqab and the burka. All of that aside, the hijab doesn’t only cover the hair – it covers the neck too – and it can’t be comfortable for little girls (or anyone else) to be shrouded like this, particularly in hot weather – but that’s just a by the by.
One thing strikes me as very curious about some of these posts. Mikey, for example, says people should ‘mind their own business’. He said the same about airline passengers who suspected their fellow travellers of activity likely to put planes at risk. Bizarrely he’d mind his own business there too. As the determinedly vocal atheist that he claims to be, I wonder why he dismisses all other religions along with their various peculiarities and yet continually defends and supports the religious foibles of Islam? Mikey?
