Why do answers keep on getting removed from threads? It is incredibly annoying, particularly if you enter a thread with loads of answers removed as it's like listening to one half of a phone conversation.

Are we really all so sensitive that we need to be nanny'd by the AB Censor?

I can only speak for myself, but it takes an awful awful lot for me to be offended, so I don't understand why the censor feels it necessary to protect us.

If somebody is showing themselves up as a complete moron with the things they are posting, surely it's better to allow the posts to remain so everybody can see what a moron that person is being?

banned or suspended members should not be able to return with a new/fake profile..happens a lot..although they usually are spotted after a while and rezapped...
LOL minty x
So now you know. I'm a "Mod" and have been since the early 60s. I have never removed a post, but have had some removed in the last few months since a particular thread. Nuff said. (^_*)
curious and curiouser ! lol
I only delete posts with which I don't agree
I think that's fair

So live with it !!!!
Don't e-mail the ABed. It's much easier to get rid of boat rockers than make mods behave
And as I have said before not all banned members are banned because they did something wrong but banned because they asked the Ed to ban them!
If you feel that strongly instead of hinting at it why not name them?
I am not hinting at anything merely making an observation..a member can simpy deactivate an account it is not necessary to request a ban..how do you know that anyway ?
If they request a ban then their answers are removed.

I know someone who requested a ban because trolls were going through his old posts looking for personal information.
Thanks for the clarification ummmmm...I had assumed a deactivated account would remove all trace historically...
No...deactivating leaves everything there.
As Ummmm says
If only everyone was nice like wot i is, we would all get along fine.
stimmt T !
If a new member comes to AB and sees people taking chunks out of each other, do you think they will believe this is a friendly and helpful place and want to stick around? Or if someone posts a question in Law or Family for example, do they really want to be judged, or did they just come here for helpful advice? That's why we remove rude, judgemental or offensive posts, instead of leaving them for everyone to see. That, and watching people arguing in News threads (for example) is very tedious.

Posts talking about or quoting the removed post are also removed because they don't make any sense after the first post has gone, and also because if we keep talking about a removed post, it defeats the purpose of removing it. That's why we generally don't enter into discussions about removed posts or banned members.

Moderators don't have to identify themselves, and removed posts are reviewed by the editorial team.

The bottom line is, we want this to be a friendly and helpful place, and posts that break the Site Rules are removed. It's pretty simple.
