18 and unemployed

I have just left my part time job of 1 and a half years due to awful practise. However, this now means I've just turned 18 but am unemployed. Im due to start uni in september, and I have books and things I need to buy. Does anyone know if I am entitled to any benfits based on my income or my parents?

If you are actively seeking work you may be able to claim income based job seekers allowance. Enquire at your local Job Centre.
