You Mag Compilers Wrong

I think the You Mag crossword compilers have become either lazy, or incompetent.

Today's crossword clues for 16 across stated, 7 letters. This was linked to 23 across, 6 letters and 5 down, 15 letters.

It was a proverb which turned out to be - a friend in need is a friend indeed.

This is a bit sneaky and at worst, disingenuous. :((

I think that she is saying that 16 across should be (1,6)

They should have given the exact number of letters for each clue. That's what they used to do.

And, who is "she?" The cat's mother? ;)

Well!!!! I've just spent half an hour or so looking for 15 letter word!!!

They always used to give the exact letter requirement.

The clue is broken down in brackets - (1,6...)

As 16a (the first part)has seven lights, it seemed clear to me at least the - 1,6 went there.
