Not Even In Sheer Desperation!

What wouldn't you do, even in your our of desperation?
No matter how starving hungry I was, I couldn't eat a KFC.
Also, if I was desperate for the loo to the point where my bladder couldn't hold much longer, I couldn't use a dirty, smelly loo. I'd walk a mile to the nearest clean one.
How about you?

No matter how desperate I was to draw attention to myself, I wouldn't try to derail what I assume to be a lighthearted thread by taking it seriously.

kvalidir: I have to say that I find it slightly ironic that you decided to take a comment posted in a thread that was described as "lighthearted" entirely seriously, rather than... you know... lighthearted.
You are half-right, I did actually have your post in mind. However, I also had a different post in mind, really... the one I was going to make that would have essentially repeated the points you were making. Then about halfway through my rant I thought better of it (makes a pleasant change, I suppose), and a bit later the actual post I made occurred to me.
I appreciate that this is text-based communication, and I am dreadful at reading the tone in posts. Still, as a general rule of thumb posts I make in CB shouldn't be taken at face value.
