Holiday Inn- Jack Of All Trades!
16 Answers
Am staying here for a work project. Arrived yesterday early eve. Woman at reception checked us in. Went to room to shower n freshen up. Came down to bar to get a drink. Woman from reception rushed over to serve. Went out to eat and came back late. There she still was . Up early for breakfast - she was serving! In the end i couldn't resist asking her - someone had called in sick and she had worked a 17 hour shift! Tonight we came back in and she was still manning reception and bar. We ordered food and half hour later she served it.i joked " you didn't cook this too did you!".to which she said yes!

We checked in and the chap behind the ramp had a smart white shirt and jacket on. He offered to get help with our luggage and disappeared round he back. He then emerged wearing a striped waistcoat and took our bags to our room. In the evening he was dressed as the maitre d’ in the restaurant, showed us to our table and gave us a menu. He said a waiter would be along soon to take our order. A few minutes later the jacket had been removed and “the waiter” appeared. We asked the waiter for the wine list. A minute later he reappeared in a maroon coloured jacket with the wine list! After dinner he was in the bar, minus his jacket(s), serving the drinks. The next day the entire business was repeated at breakfast and throughout the day. Priceless! Reminded us of Peter Butterworth who played "Pepe" in “Carry on Abroad”. He played a similar character in a partly-built hotel in the Spanish resort of “Elsbels”.
Reminds me of an hotel my friend and I stayed in years ago in Italy. The same person did most of the tasks.Prior to day of departure we asked for an early morning alarm call. We were given an alarm clock plus a list of others who needed to be up early and their room numbers. We were asked to knock on their doors!
Stayed in Scotts hotel, Killarney once, the lady on reception, was waitress at dinner, popped over to off licence, she was there serving, next morning, she was serving breakfast, about to check out, we seen her with house staff cleaning rooms, she really was 'Jack of all trades' we gave her a good tip, she was very pleasant in every role we met her
She was great, I was standing in Of Licence waiting for her to leave, didn't want scotts staff knowing I was buying a few bottles of Vino haha when I realised she was the salesperson (shucks-I dunno what I must have looked like to her - and drink with the meal to top it off) I don't think she cared once she had her wages end of day, there was a bus load of us and we looked after her well
