Worried About Pregnant Daughter.
20 Answers
Please, can someone put my mind at rest. My daughter is just over 6 months pregnant. She has been thru an awful lot to get this far she has been told she tested for Strep. I can make the baby very ill but because they are now aware, they can give antibiotics intravenously to her during labour?

Best wishes.

Thank you all. I've tried not to look on web sites as nurse told my daughter not to. I suppose you will always get negative stories. Thank you for support site Mamya. I will show my daughter tonight. Her feet and ankles seem to be swollen all the time too. Strange to me as I never suffered from that.
I assume that she has tested positive for strep from her vagina.
Don't panic.
She will probably be observed and retested again and IF she is still positive then she will be prescribed antibiotics.
NOW.........some Obstetricians will prescribe them now and then retest, others will wait until the onset of labour and when she is "well on" will give antibiotics via a drip. This choice will be made by the doctor in charge.
Even IF she does not have antibiotics than only about less than 1% of the babies will become affected.
Probably a case of watch and wait...........
