Help please, I'm looking to install a couple of security lights along my driveway which is a carport with a clear polycarbonate roof. There is no electrical power to this area at present. Nowadays many types of security lights are solar powered so my question is :...can solar panels be charged through a ploycarbonate roof?

The two solar-powered security lights I use have a cable about 5m long between the solar panel and the lamp unit. Would this enable you to put the solar panel fully outdoors with the lamps where you want them?

bhg481, thats an idea, what lights do you have, link if possible.
Can't remember the make and I'm not at home so I can't look. Sorry.
This isn't mine but says it has a 5m cable.

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Just put "solar security lights" into Amazon and see what comes up.
We have purchased from this company and have found them to be very good.

Ps I have no vested interest in this.
Yes, some type solar panel does not require direct sunshine. But it requires enough illumination.
I suggest you to use battery powered security light. As a security light with motion sensor as well. When someone is passing there, the light will turn on.
