Said to an inquisitive person, commonly to a child. A child may ask why you are doing something, the reason for it not being obvious. Your reply may be 'There is a reason in the roasting of eggs'. Eggs are cooked in several ways but roasting is not one of them . So to do it would seem irrational; yet there might be a good reason on occasion. After all 'there is more than one way to skin a cat' !.
