In order to charge the difference. How do they recognise the difference between a people carrier and a commercial van at the Auto Tolls at the Dartford Tunnel.

Agreed, would be nice to know where the money goes. We, the users, now own the bridge so who dictates to who.

the toll was originally there to cover the cost of the bridge, which happened a long time ago, now they say its to cover things like road and bridge maintenence and the staff etc

I was nearly arrested there once ..argued for 10 minutes that my Short wheelbase series 2 landrover was half the size of my series 3, 12 seater V8, but cost twice as much to drive across their poxy bridge, just because it had no windows in the side ... held up loads of traffic too ... THIEVES

Did the bridge toll pay for widening the M25 on the Heathrow side. They don't get charged using that stretch!
