If you take on a strong opponent then you must be committed absolutely and prepared for the worst; there is no compromise, no half-measure. The scabbard is what the sword is sheathed in when not in use. If you lose then you'l be killed so you won't get to use the scabbard again to put the sword back. Even if you kill the prince there is likely to be a long struggle following; you can't think to rest and put the sword back, even then. So think twice before making such an attempt !
