I find I'm correcting fewer words overall using predictive text than not. Problem is the tech doesn't underline the words it's changed with predictive text because it "thinks" they're right, so one has to be extra vigilant in the inevitable 7 or 8 proof reads. :-( At least 50% of the typed words that it's introduced a typo in, it realises are wrong and underlines.
OG you are talking about 3 things there....spellcheck underlines words it thinks you have misspelled, auto correction is where it guesses what you meant to spell and changes it, predictive text is where it predicts, by context and learning, what it thinks you want to type and finishes the word for you. I keep the last two turned off as they drive me crazy.
