the secretion of the larvae of a small insect called a frog-hopper. Protects it.. Usually known as cuckoo spit

Ah makes sense now. A friends child had been told that, but was translating it as couscous spit. Thank you.

Cuckoo spit! I haven't heard that in yonks :o)

We used to have a Hypericum that was covered in it every year. Gross.
