Gmail - Forwarding Messages

I have recently moved to gmail, and the forwarding feature is driving me mad.
Typically there is a string of mails on one subject , and you want to fwd. some but not all of the string of messages to somebody,
How do you fix it so that the whole string of mails gets fwded - sometimes with embarrassing results.
As a second aspect is there any way of disabling the string feature of gmail -I think I would find it better without it. My previous email system did not have it .

The forwarding feature is as with any other email system - you only forward one message.

Thanks very much Ellipsis - I've taken your advice and to my great relief it works !
Re your first sentence saying you fwd only one message, I found that when I fwded. one message , maybe from the middle or the end of the thread, the whole thread of 10 , 12 messages went to the recipient. Is that what happens when you have conv. view on (as I had) or was I doing something wrong.

You were doing something wrong.

To forward a message from the middle of the thread, don't click the forward link at the bottom of the thread - this forwards the last message in the thread.

Instead, click the message you want to forward (i.e. open it), then click down arrow at the top right of the messsage - this gives you the message menu. Then click the Forward link on the message menu.
