I have had my I PAD for over 10 years. I cannot now switch it on. It says I need to re activate it and for me to enter my I.D. and Password. I have done this but it will not accept it and says the I.D. is wrong. How can IU re activate my I PAD. I have tried support.apple.com but still fail. Is it possible for me to start again from scratch with my I PAD. I am 75 years old and a bit senile

The iPad was only invented and became available in 2010. That’s only 7 years ago.
do you have an Apple store nearby ? or perhaps throw yourself on the mercy of a whizz kid in the nearest computer shop ?

Thank you both. I feel I have had it much longer than 7 years and have had excellent use of it until now
Have you tried going to
https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin
Clicking on “Forgot Apple ID or password”
You can then select “If you forgot your Apple ID, you can “look it up””.
You can then put in your First name, Last name, Email address (This will be the email address you used to setup your Ipad) You can have multiple tries if you’re not sure of what you used
Make sure that you are entering your details correctly eg. depending on your settings your ipad may capitalise the first letter typed - it may be that that setting was off but for some reason its now turned back on.

Thus if tour password was elephant it may be being typed as Elephant

But why would the iPad need "reactivating" in the first place ?
// I have had my iPAD for over 10 years. //

That is really remarkable considering it was only introduced 7 years ago.
Gromit, the years blend into one another as you get older; trust me on this.
