Mesh for "vaginal slings" is different from the mesh used for hernias i.e Inguinal and Femoral hernias, of which many types are used but mainly containing propylene. Side effects for these have been reported BUT it is the standard practice for hernia repairs to date and hundreds of thousands are performed each year.
SO....either male or female...if you are to have a hernia repair (rupture)...then worry yea not.
NOW...the main problem is the use of mesh, in vaginal incontinence which is said to have complications of 2-3 % which is acceptable, which now seem to have complication rates of 10-12% ( medical statistics again) and these figures are unacceptable.
The problem with the vaginal sling is that it is surrounded by "important organs" vaginal, bladder, rectum and other pelvic contents which are the focus of complications and this report.
The company deny these figures......and indeed, in my opinion may have a point.
Jason.......don't worry......chalk and cheese.
