Having read the articles, I am surprised that the bloke got a much longer stretch. This seems to happen a lot when a couple commit a crime. Do they think it couldn't possibly be the woman's idea.

maybe it was just the man who signed the claim forms. There isn't a lot of detail in the news reports.

ummmm, it used to be the same with hotel guest books. People would try to make a claim about how awful their room was and the manager would say "That's odd, when you signed our book you said what a wonderful time you'd had."
