Burglar/cctv Alarms For Ground Floor, Suggestions Please.

My son & his fiancee are moving to a new build g/floor flat, with just one flat above.
They have a shared porch for two, and one rear door to the garden, and I want to buy them a security system for Xmas.

At first I was going to get them a similar CCTV system I have, but seeing they both work long hours, I was wondering if a burglar alarm might be better, or a combination of the two.

I am looking for a reasonabley priced system, so using a company is out of the Q, probably something they could fit themselves, Thanks.
