Saffron

Well all the talk of Saffron in the paella post has led me to ask just how much is saffron.

I do recall my nephew talking about it when he was here and said that his mother-in-law had bought him a paella dish and also saffron. He said "you know Aunty Jenny - saffron is just as expensive as gold."

Please somebody put me out of my misery. Just how much is it. Thanks

I remember having saffron and currant rice with a Moroccan lamb tagine. Heavenly it was.
How much do you use in rice?
