Friday. Another weekend beckons. The moon is shining so bright it's almost like daylight here. I've been up for over an hour, couldn't get back to sleep, so got up and went for a wee walk down the lane, the lights of Gloucester shining brightly, the glow of the moon reflecting off the River Severn makes it look almost ethereal. A little bit too cool for most of the wildlife to be out and about, one fox on the scrounge, a badger going about it's lawful, or unlawful occasions. Neither of them took any notice of me, except to realise I was no threat to them. Quite pleasent.
Good morning everyone, not read any posts yet, just seen this thread started before 4am. OMG I was fast asleep, only getting up, couldn't pass lappy without saying hello to all here, hope you are all keeping well, I'm on my way into kitchen to get some breakfast - nothing fancy, tea/toast and marmalade, some of you here are ready for lunch I guess (Back soon ) Ducksie - I don't even know how the weather is!!
we are at the top of a steep hill that the snow ploughs and gritters can't get up in bad conditions, it's a nightmare.. when it was really bad a few years back we could not get out the door, when it thawed we had to climb over huge drifts and walk to shop ..which had no bread..milk..papers.. nothing could get through.. I ended up having to keep the neighbours going with soup and stew etc as I always have a full freezer..now have the breadmaker which will help if that situation recurs..
Minty, you mentioning steep hills has reminded me about the 'grit boxes' that we used to have in our village.
Haven't seen (or noticed) any for a few years.
Was handy to have access to the grit if ploughs etc couldn't get through.
