I have the usual entertainment package with docs, plus sport, broadband, and phone rental, but no movies or hd.
Its just gone up to £93 a month, and they said they could give me a discount to £79, if I take out another 18 month contract, so I am going to look elsewhere for January.

£19 for rental is a joke, hardly use it, having a mobile, and they want extra for some sky sports Catch-up.

I cant have Virgin, as they dont have their cable where I live, but I have Amazon firestick.

too early for me to start the blethering but would anybody know if you cancel the Sky etc and you get some stations - can you still record - probably not - I really only use my Sky for recording and like it - I pay £32 a month.
I've got Freesat. It gives me everything I want.
Jenny...once you stop paying Sky for anything, the "red button" facility on your sky box will no longer function.

The box will still remain in use, however, and will give you a range of channels that are contained in previous posts on this thread.
thanks - I may keep it then as I like my recordings - off to see if I can get more kip. Good morning all.
Jenny, you can buy your own Personal Video Recorder (PVR) - there are plenty on the market, Humax is one brand.

Afternoon Folks,

Even more confused after Chris's post but will read it properly later.

Thanks Hopkirk, will look into it, which has made me think of my own mob company, EE.

I have a firestick Murray, thanks

Forgot to add.

Mentioned this to my daughter last night who is with Sky, but she has has just renewed her contract for 18 months, 2 months ago.

So can they in in Law, hold you to to the contract, and make her pay for the rest of the 16 months?
Yes, they can - that is the point of a contract. I don't know they're terms and conditions and they may charge a lesser penalty but she will certainly pay a penalty of some kind (unless she hasn't been able to receive the services she is paying for due to a problem caused by Sky).
RT....I think that is how contracts work.....in the small print somewhere, there will be a clause that allows them to do this.....a clause that your daughter accepted when she signed up.
The 'free' satelitte chanels are beamed from the same Satellite. There are many chanels on there including sme foreign ones. FreeSat filters out many of them giving you the core although you can add them manually later as Chris says.
If you have a TV that has satellite but not freesatt eg a Sony then you will see all the channels, but it is pretty much unnusable in its raw form.

Note: if you have a firestick you can install kodi (bit of fiddling but it is not difficult) Kodi in itself is NOT illegal. For instance if you have a NAS then you can put films/mp4 on there and access them via the Firestick using Kodi.

Thanks for more information regarding firestick.

Just called EE, and they are offering me Unlimited anytime calls, with b/band for £25.50, plus £10 for set-up welcome package, sounds good to me.

To think I could have saved ££££ if I had known earlier, never mind,
Excellent. Well done.

You really won't miss Sky.
