Locked Out Of Gmail!

After several hours of trying to sort my Gmail account,passwords,etc. I'm on the verge of deleting my Gmail account and starting again - but, I can't remember my password and Google happily sends me round in circles for hours again!!
Any alternative to trying again and again and again.....?

you cannot delete it without your password, i think take two steps back
and think, with a pen and paper, answer your login secret words to renew password, then write down new one, and check you emails to confirm...
