Jeez - here we go again, the lack of knowledge of how the US works when it comes to gun control and then the mechanisms of overthrowing an Amendment....(as an aside, forget how many Amendments there have been since 1776 - relatively few just because of the difficulty of getting them through).
Let's go back to the roots, the 2nd Amendment includes, 'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'
To overthrow that 70% of both Houses is needed - now how practical is that with current US politics and, by that, go back to 1950 or even 1900. Nope, it ain't.
The only chance is some semblance of control over the bullets and shot, perhaps heavily taxed federally and then rebates to legitimate and cleared gun clubs, farmers etc - (p.s. even the police have to buy their own bullets in the Land of the Free).
Then there is always the alternative route of buying guns of any sort, ditto the firepower, Semtex or whatever south of the Rio Grande. A wall will certainly stop that (splutter).......
