the older alba (25) came home at 3.30pm in a panic as his brother (23) had been injured at work.
They both work in the same abattoir, anyway, that's not the point, if the older alba hadn't been there and broken the news, Mr A and I were wondering if we would ever have found out/
The Company does have our contact details for next of kin, but no-one notified us.
On the plus side, the younger alba is now is a hospital which specialises in nerve damage and they think he'll be off work, which will include physio after mice-surgery, for at least 2 months.
Still think the Work should have notified a next of kin or am I wrong?
Has alba the elder told you what they said at work? Was he asked to come and tell/get you?
It may be that the process of informing you would have been different had a relative not been there as the older alba was!
Glad to read he is getting the right treatment and hope he recovers well (on full pay I would hope).
Anyway I know how distressing it is when a loved one has an accident at work and how frightened and worried you are when someone rushes in and tells you so I hope the stress goes from you as well.
I'm sure the hospital would have contacted you if necessary and if he wasn't able to. It is more difficult with businesses- condidentiality etc...
Wish him all the best xx
He could ask them to let you know in future. I know we were never allowed to contact family in that sort of situation. The hospital had to do it.
My son has broken his writing wrist. Kids! Xx
oh, Pix, forgive me! please
I'd forgotten about that, I swear blind that irrespective of age, they just do things to concern and worry their parents! xx
If he is an adult (as opposed to a minor) they would consider that it was up to tell you should he wish to do so. I'm sure that had the injuries been serious you would have been informed had he not been able to give his consent.
