Hi there I went to the GP today after experiencing a lot of pain in my toe last night. She said that I have a nasty infection and I was given fluoxacillin 500mgx2 four times a day for 1 week to try and knock it on the head. I have been told to only use the dressings when I go out and try and let the toe dry by exposing it as it is very moist. I have to see the nurse on monday to keep an eye on it, i was a bit shocked at what my doctor told me she says if it worsens or does not improve within 2 weeks I may have to be admitted to hospital and put on a drip of antibiotics. Because I have type 2 diabetes it is going to take longer to heal. I have a high temp, headache shivery and nauseated been told to drink plenty and keep an eye on blood sugar. She told me as I am fighting an infection it is normal to feel quite rough

Follow all she has told you and hopefully the fluoxacillin will sort it.
Glad that you managed to sort out your appointment, hope it goes well with you.
Was a wise move to see gp G.

Does having stable blood sugars increase healing time? I am ok at the moment usually about 8 after meals or 10 in the morning so if I am really careful about what I am eating and keep sugars lower will this quicken recovery?
As a type 1 with problematic toes I know how you feel. Yes stable sugars do help with healing time. The Fluclox will do the job I’d imagine never let me down.
Good you're getting sorted Gordie, and you can use those eggs for a nice omelette now. :-)
Or a facemask :-)
