I think the personal allowance rises are pretty good, though I'm sad they haven't caned smoking a lot more, 2%, perlease 100%! if you are serious.

I would have liked to see much larger tax increase on tobacco products.

Although I imagine the biggest revenue generators are cigarettes and loose tobacco , I would have a higher tax for luxury tobacco products such as cigars and such like.

If you can afford posh fags you should pay more tax. But tbh tax them all a lot more and (how you do it I don't know) the extra income goes specifically for cancer treatment and stuff!

I can't see how cigar smoking is going to raise more revenue.

In fact, hardly anyone smokes at all. The shop next to the local comprehensive used to have loads of kids puffing away. Now, they're all on their phones.

Those that can afford to buy cigars and such are already paying a lot of tax. Aren't they? :p

if you tax the smoker more heavily, then surely you're going to drive more of them towards Black Market, which means no revenue going into the coffers?

Didn't think much of the budget, wow, forgot 'they' are cutting the waiting time for Universal Credit from 6 weeks to 5.

With regard to the cut in stamp duty causing a rise in house price, it is not me talking. I am just reporting what was said by several TV commentators after the budget .
