Normally yes, with a print-out of your order.

When I shop on ebay, I always get an immediate email confirmation, which I value, given the amount of fraud that is going on these days.

sounds like something's gone amiss, i'd email or ring the store for confirmation of the order :-(

I can't think of a reason for the problems you are having when ordering on-line with Sainsbury's

My order of food was placed at 12.34 today , then verified by Visa, and I received,an email acknowledgement with copy of my order at 12.38.
