You take it right, Baz. News is not made by people doing ordinary or unexceptional things, however big a "celeb" they might be.
When the wedding of Chazza and Diana was announced in 1981 Mrs NJ and I immediately booked a nice holiday in the Algarve for the week of the wedding. We found a nice restaurant or two and a couple of bars to spend our evenings. To our horror our favourite bar proudly announced that they were having a VHS video tape of the wedding proceedings especially flown out so that punters could see the event on the same evening. We and a few other like-minded customers tried to persuade the proprietor not to bother but he was adamant it would boost his takings. We searched the town and found a place that guaranteed to have no mention of the Royal Wedding on the day and spent our evening there. It was packed. The following evening we returned to our favourite bar to see how his Royal Wedding Premiere Night had gone down. "Can't understand it. Worst July night I've had for years. People were arriving, seeing what was showing on the TV and turning on their heels to leave. It's cost me a small fortune. I wish I'd listened to you."
Which goes to show there's a market for everything.
