What Is The Difference Between Justice And Revenge
22 Answers
Always a lot of talk on AB about prisons been soft/prisons are hell.
Bring back hanging/ don't bring back hanging
eye for an eye/there always mitigating circumstances
etc
SO, just what is the difference between justice and the desire fore revenge?
Is an objective view re: punishment for offenders even possible?

The law, as in the legal system, is objective, not subjective.
// It was against the law at one time to be a practicing homosexual, now we see such a law as been backward and barbaric. Might we at one point in the future see it as been backward and barbaric to demonize people who choose to smoke weed? //
We might well.
Society evolves, and as a result, what is acceptable, or not, also evolves, and the laws in turn evolve to reflect those changes.
There may come a time, hopefully sooner rather than later, when society realises the futility and waste surrounding it's 'war against drugs' and develops a more pragmatic view, based on the fact that we will never ever eradicate drugs, our only choice is how we control and supervise their supply and use.

Okay, distance or taxation.
To address the 'war on drugs' those pompous windbags would rather do just about anything than admit defeat on a position they've discussed stony faced and serious before adjourning to their subsidised bars, getting well oiled and proceeded to abuse and assault their minions over their desks of state or wherever.
