Bliss This Afternoon.....

Sunset Boulevard at Milton Keynes theatre.......if you live in or near MK you're so lucky to have such a wonderful theatre...

Their sound system is just perfect......the lighting guys are excellent.....it's a lovely theatre staffed by lovely folk....

Sunset Boulevard lived up to my expectations.......when you've seen Glenn Close it takes someone gifted to match her and Ria Jones did.....but Danny Mac as Joe was the best I've ever seen.....
The orchestra was magnificent....lots for them to do in this show and they excelled....

A wonderful production......the heart stopping ending was almost spoiled by the laughing, chatting ladies behind me.......almost...... ;-)

Bliss......and even more bliss.....I costumed this for an amdram performance.....just love bling....

I'm not a "Musical Theatre" person - or at least I didn't think I was.

I was originally the 'designated driver' for the outing, but thought I might as well go to the show as well, and see what all the fuss was about.

It was fantastic - brilliant performances, great set, superb live orchestra in the pit, crystal clear sound - just a splendid way to spend a winter afternoon. I was blown away by it all.

Just one gripe - why do some audience members think it's OK to chatter to their pals during the performance? My basilisk stare shut up a couple of witterers, but I thought gness was going to explode when they started up again, just as the tension on stage built to a climax. Appalling behaviour - there ought to be a way of getting them 'red carded' for future shows.

My trousers......my zip.....and 'twas my knickers the zip was stuck to........had to walk funny on the way out.... :-(

That was odd behaviour, Dave.....even if you don't know the show it was obvious this was a dramatic moment....but they didn't chatter and laugh for long....
I think some folk are so used to chattering and half watching TV programmes that they don't know how to behave in a theatre....x

Over 20 years ago and almost 40 years ago respectively. How do people remember exactly when they did things? Big events I can understand like dates of births, marriages, deaths …. but visits to the theatre? Crikey! I’ve probably forgotten most of the shows I’ve seen let alone when I saw them.

Well often, Naomi it's when something else happened that year.....like seeing Miss Saigon the year MrG died.....or JC Superstar just before the first MrG ran off with the girl from the pea canning factory.....or Equus the year I began working at the Weldon Centre....some things just stick.

I've just been and Googled the certificate for Zulu which I saw at t'pictures in 1964 with me mam.
It was a 'U' right enough, even with all the slaughter and topless dancing. :-)

I've seen this when Faith Brown played the lead role, my goodness she was good and the ending fair took my breath away, Marti Pellow played the male lead, I think. Love to see it agan, especially with Danny Mac. Saw it at the lovely Empire Theatre in Liverpool.
