Equifax - Is This A Scam?

I have just received a letter from Equifax saying my personal data has been accessed during a cyberattack. Anyone heard f this company?

Equifax is a genuine credit reference agency. Unlikely they would email you. Look them up and see if they have a facility for you to forward the email.

I did hear that there had been a data breach. Equifax is a credit checking company.

Equifax in the Uk is a credit reference agency which along with Experian is used by organisations to help them make credit/lending decisions.

As everyone has said, they are a bona fide credit checking agency. However, I would be very reluctant to use any information in the letter to contact them (if indeed any contact is necessary) and use the links people have provided to do so.
