Carrying on from my earlier post I still haven’t been able to connect to a network. After getting a EE sim installed, no network connection. Put in a Vodaphone sim that I knew was working, nothing. Called in an Apple shop they checked the imei number. Result came back O2. Called in a O2 shop, had sim installed, nothing. Was advised check Tesco, they use O2. Still nothing. Every thing seems to be OK, with it. Powers up, down navigates OK. WiFi working. Only error is a message where the signal strength bars should be “ no service “ Only other thing I have noticed, comparing it to a working iphone4 is, in settings the working phone shows “ carrier “ at the bottom of list “ airplane mode “. This carrier lable doesn’t appear when trying various sims. Any info appreciated Bob

no quite sure what you mean,if it is in airplane mode you cannot send or receive calls or text everything else should work though turn the airplane mode OFF if its on
Is the carrier turn onto ‘automatic’. Tap the carrier to see. Airplane mode should be off also, as said above.

I meant to write the carrier entry was at the bottom of the list starting with airplane mode at the top. Not that it was in airplane mode.
If your carrier is set to automatic try resetting your network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings. You do not lose any info etc. Then turn off and turn on again.
