Now that Trump has honoured his Election pledge should the rest of the world now follow suit?

Excellent idea, the Jews were there three thousand years ago, when it was founded by Solomon. In the meantime they have been persecuted badly by the Romans, despicably by the Muslims and horrendously by the Nazis, and they deserve their town back, and I hope other nations will do the right thing and install their embassies there too. Well done Donald - keep it...

Palestinians and their allies have been leveraging international bodies such as the United Nations for years in an attempt to get their way outside of the peace process.
This is exactly what President Barack Hussein Obama did in his final parting shot at Israel before leaving office.
Former Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, a Nevada Democrat, attacked Israel-hating Obama in fairly blunt terms in the final weeks of his presidency.
Obama stood by and did nothing when the United Nations “stooped to a new low … passing a Security Council resolution with the transparent goal of delegitimizing Israel and damaging the prospects for a lasting negotiated peace with the Palestinians.”
The Obama administration’s decision to abstain, allowing the UN’s highest body to condemn Israel in such harsh and biased terms, declare settlements an illegal obstacle to peace, and call the eternal capital of the Jewish people “occupied,” is unprecedented and dangerous. The resolution passed by the Security Council suggests that the location of the most holy site for the Jewish people, the Western Wall, is not in Israel, and that the Old City of Jerusalem is a "settlement."
What a difference a presidential election makes.

For once I don't. Palestine as a nation has never existed. The last independent nation (the southern Judah bit of Israel) ended with Nechadnezzar in 586BC, didn't it? And that nation was Jewish, the clue being in the name Judah. Ever since then Jerusalem itself has been under foreign control of some sort. I think the term Palestine (presumably from the Philistines) began life as a geographical designation when that part of the world was part of the Roman Empire. The closest thing it has ever been to a political entity was under the British mandate, wasn't it?
Actually I (and Naomi) ought to know precisely about all this because I've had Karen Armstrong's "History of Jerusalem" on Kindle for at least two years and haven't (to my shame) got round to reading it.Fields of Blood", Khandro) And it was you, Naomi, who recommended it, wasn't it?
(I've just started reading her "Fields of Blood", Khandro.)

It says plainly in italics at the bottom, no secret, - and I'm still awaiting your history lesson.
v_e. I read F. of B. cover to cover, it is a comprehensive and detailed tour de force, so many facts for my feeble brain to retain, but it is a mine of reference material and with a good index. Her overview of history and world religions is magisterial.

I'm enjoying the book despite its Margaret Mead meets Karl Marx presuppositions - noble savage and systemic violence stuff (not that such stuff is totally untrue, Khandro.
Ms Armstrong (along with the poster who first got me to read her biography "Mohammed") bears most of the responsibility for my unashamed hatred of Islam.

There can be no peace in this religious war, moving the embassy or not will make no difference to that, so it is the right move.
