Chocolate log yes, custard no. Doesn't take long to make fresh though Sam.
I've always read that home made custard shouldn't be frozen because it can separate. I personally wouldn't take the chance. As for the log I would myself make the whole cake and freeze it in a plastic box and defrost in the fridge overnight.
birds type custard or real custard made with eggs? Actually I think both would split when thawed. It won't kill you but it will look yuck and have a nasty texture. At what stage are you thinking of freezing the log? If you fill it with whipped cream or butter cream you could freeze it but I wouldn't freeze it unfilled whether rolled up or flat.

Okay. Thanks guys. I know Eleena, I
Was just trying to get super organized this Christmas. Would younfreeze the
Choc log dunnitall ? Including the choc ganash?
ganache freezes nicely. make sure its a high cream version
Personally I would but it's an individual choice, what some think are ok for them, might not be for others. For your peace of mind google the question of gnash to see what it says then you can decide from that. Good luck.
Is it a buttercream filled (chocolate log) Sam?
I'm lazy, I'd probably just buy one in

Yes Eleena. I make it every Christmas . Just wanted to get ahead a bit this year. It is choc ganache filled and covered.
Sounds lovely anyway!
Can you send me a piece, Sam?

Apologizes girls. I have just taken out my recipe for the choc log, it is chocolate buttercream, not ganache, and apparently is freezeable. So have made the log, rolled it up in grease proof paper, film and foil, made the choc buttercream and into the freezer they go. Gosh I am getting ahead this year. Red cabbage is also in the freezer and later on this week I will make the stuffing. I do feel pleased with myself :)

Well done Sam, love chocolate log.
