Then you have a greater insight than me.
The first (inflation) is a simple matter of fact. It is simply a collation of figures compiled by the OBR which compares prices of certain goods and services this year with the prices of those same things last year. There is nothing conspiratorial about it. Even the most evil and vicious government the world has ever known (which many people cite as Mrs Thatcher’s administration) would be hard pressed to conspire to create an inflation rate of 3.1%.
The second (Mr McDonnels Twitter nonsense) has nothing to do with inflation. In fact it has very little to do with reality at all. It is simply his unfounded nonsensical comment on the Budget. It has no basis in fact (at least none that I can see) and is simply drivel. The £5bn he mentions, wherever it comes from or goes to will have no significant impact on inflation whatsoever and the 3.1% inflation rate will have no impact on where the £5bn comes from or goes to (if indeed it comes from or goes to anywhere at all). It's a shame Mr McDonnel does not explain what he's on about. Difficult in 280 characters, I know, so perhaps he could explain his remarks to a more suitable audience. The House of Commons might be a good place to start.
