So this little boy was filmed by his mother talking about his bullies, its very moving and sad... but should it have been picked up by mainstream media?

This article is very interesting: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/dec/13/how-very-2017-the-trial-by-media-of-11-year-old-keaton-jones?CMP=fb_gu

Really shouldn't have been but at the moment I don't think the media can help themselves. It's attention-grabbing and they want our attention (and need it probably, given ad revenue etc).

I don't see a problem in picking up the story of bullying as a human interest one in times of slow news: it seems the main issue was all that went on around it. I don't intend to read the article umpteen times to get it clear but there was suggestions of character assassination and cashing in. I'm unsure what was true and what fake or what was going on. But I see the Grauniad claiming the high ground whilst covering the story at the same time.

I didn't read anything in the article that she had taken her bullying concerns to the school

She videos her distressed son and puts in on FB?
(what was she thinking?!!)

Allegedly the bullying started after she had posted a picture on FB with holding a Confederate Flag, woman needs to be removed from the internet imo.
Most of the allegations against her have been proved untrue accordingto the article.
I see nothing wrong with someone holding a confederate flag. It is a symbol of the Southern states, and is rather pretty. It's other's inferences that cause issues.
you're right OG.
It's the other issues and I wonder about the parents of the children who bullied the 11 year old.
We all know you can't go on FB til you're 13 :-)
no it shouldn't, the school should be doing everything to protect him however.

Alba, good point about videoing her distressed son and putting on fb. Never really thought about it like that, but that is a very strange way of comforting him!
i wouldn't do that, go on f/b and splash it all over the media, the school should be the place to sort this out..
//she had posted a picture on FB with holding a Confederate Flag, woman needs to be removed from the internet imo. //

Is the confederate flag illegal now then?

Dare you to go down deep South and say that!
