You are all wasting your time trying to explain to Mikey that the political spectrum is not a linear, left at one end and right at the other, concept. I have tried and he, either cannot or, refuses to understand the uncomfortable truth. In reality the horseshoe theory is probably the closest analogy of what is blindingly obvious to most level headed thinkers. It asserts that the far left and the far right, rather than being at opposite and opposing ends of a linear political continuum, in fact closely resemble one another, much like the ends of a horseshoe. Proponents of the theory point to a number of similarities between the extreme left and the extreme right, including their propensity to gravitate to authoritarianism or totalitarianism. Of course this is poo pooed by people on both ends of the political spectrum who oppose being grouped with those they consider to be their polar opposites. Well they would wouldn't they.
I thought AOG was just as guilty of thinking politics ran in a linear form with his nonsensical introduction of Stalin to a thread asking what people thought of the Far Right having political power in Austria (again).
Zacs-Master

I won't tell you again do try and keep up zacs, my Stalin reference was introduced into the debate to counteract mikey's choice to introduce Hitler into his thread.
Another though......just as in a horseshoe magnet opposites do definitely attract. Which may go some way towards explaining Mikey's obvious fascination with all things far right. He likes to appear to have almost prescient insight into the workings of the far right but strangely no perception of the mirror image Marxist left.
You’ve rather proven my (and Togo’s) point there AOG.
Will you kindly leave me out of your petty missives please Zac!
Merely agreeing with your 14.01 post Togo. Calm down, there’s a good chap.
Mikey,//Whummmmmp....Sound of Mikey hitting the floor in a feint. //

Nothing unusual there, Mikey. Look up 'feint'.
Calm down...Haha. :)) Remind us again which of today's posters is bouncing about like a drunk on a space hopper hurling insults about like acidic confetti?
Feint heart never won fair lady, Mikey.
Togo.....AOG?
Mikey, //"Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer"//

Now what does that remind me of? No … not Germany …. nor Austria…. different language …. but the sentiment’s mighty familiar. No …..don’t tell me …. I’m sure it’ll come to me soon…..

No..... it's not that, Mikey. Try again.
It's this Naomi. Corbyn teaches it to our youngsters.

Not that Togo.
I have little or no idea what most of the above is about, but I am not sure the "Freedom" Party has much in common with the Nazis.
